This Shark Tooth Dirt from a sand mine was loaded with all kinds of ancient fossil shark teeth, but it especially had some amazing Megalodon ancestors like this Angustidens Shark tooth. The “barbs” on either side of the shark tooth’s enamel are actually called cusps and these were mostly gone from the younger megalodon teeth as they evolved. This dirt is available to dig at @palmettofossilexcursions and they will be getting more! | SHRKco

EXPERT on Instagram: "Scientific evidence shows that sharks have been swimming in Earth’s oceans for over 400 million years, making them older than trees, dinosaurs, and even many land plants. Fossil records indicate the earliest shark ancestors appeared during the Devonian period, while the first true trees did not emerge until roughly 350 million years ago. This means sharks were already apex predators in the oceans before forests covered the planet, highlighting their extraordinary evolutiona
