CSX Locomotive #1900 is officially here, honoring the Seaboard Air Line Railroad (SAL)! When the SAL was established in 1900, an ‘air line’ referred to the shortest, straight-line distance between two points rather than air travel. SAL’s rail network contributed greatly to the economic development of the Southeastern United States until the railroad merged with the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad in 1967 to become the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad, and eventually part of CSX. It’s here! CSX’s fourth in a series of heritage locomotive designs commemorates the Consolidated Rail Corporation, or Conrail, and bears the number 1976, the year the railroad was founded. The design from CSX’s locomotive shop team in Waycross, Georgia recreates the iconic “Conrail Quality” logo and features Conrail blue. #ONECSX | CSX
