University of South Florida Health researchers have established a significant connection between tough protein deposits, known as fibrin, and neuroinflammatory diseases such as Alzheimer's and traumatic brain injury. This discovery holds promise for targeted therapies to prevent or halt neurodegeneration in these conditions, as well as other chronic neuroinflammatory diseases categorised by abnormal brain vascular permeability. Fibrinogen, a protein naturally produced in the liver, circulates in
