This time of year you may see birds flitting through the trees in mixed flocks. Blue tit, coal tit, great tit and long-tailed tit are often joined by goldcrest and firecrest. Goldcrest are Britain's smallest birds, weighing only around 5-6 grams, and they are constantly active on the search for food.
