Swiss Fish #Birgeria (named by Aldinger in 1931 after a friend of his) is a Triassic fish found all over the globe. As you can see here, some are more complete than others, but when taken as a whole we can assemble the entire skeleton! The genus persisted from ~250 Ma to ~201 Ma when they ceased to exist and left no descendants. It lived alongside #Saurichthys which is on display here, too. The preservation of these Italian specimens show that scales were only present in that deeply forked tail,
