Oregon's fir trees are in trouble. The most recent annual survey from the air by trained observers with the ODF and US Forest Service noted widespread dieoff of true firs (Abies sp.). The dieoffs are spread across about a million acres. The underlying cause appears to be repeated droughts and record heat stressing the trees.
