In the prehistoric Miocene seas, Megalodon and Livyatan melvillei were the ocean’s top predators. While both were massive and deadly, Livyatan had the advantage in a direct fight. Megalodon, a shark reaching 18 meters (59 feet), had razor-sharp, serrated teeth designed for slicing flesh. It relied on ambush attacks, striking from below with immense bite force.
