Mining away

Hiding away in the bush North of Bairnsdale in East Gippsland is the remainder of this late 1800's hand dug dam that once provided water to a boiler to create steam to power a 10 head stamper battery to process gold. While its easy to mistake for a natural bog these days, it certainly didnt begin life that way and had a 1 million gallon capacity to supply the mining effort nearby.
