Game and Fish Wildlife Biologist Heather O'Brien recently worked with local angler Tom Durst to rescue a loon on Pathfinder Reservoir. Tom first spotted the loon who appeared to be swimming in place. When he got closer he noticed the loon had fishing line wrapped around his throat and mouth - the other end was attached to something under the water preventing the loon from swimming away. Tom quickly called Game and Fish wildlife biologists who responded. Tom used his angling skills to "snag" the

Loons will often mistake wet pavement for a pond or lake. They require water for taking off to flight, so this one would not have survived had it not been rescued.
