When we survey a cave, I always enjoy researching the history. A few years ago, while visiting South Pittsburg's City Cemetery, I came across the grave for Loubell Payne. She was the young daughter of Robert M. and Emma E. Payne, who were the first proprietors of Wonder Cave. They also ran the Monteagle Hotel. In all of my research, I never knew of this daughter as most of the rest of the family is buried up in Monteagle. She was only 2 when she passed and she is the only one in the family plot
