Stargazers on nearly one half of the world witnessed a total lunar eclipse overnight, as a rare cosmic lineup caused the moon to turn a shade of red.

The first total lunar eclipse since 2022 flushed the moon red Thursday night into Friday morning across North and South America. Did you miss it due to cloudy weather or just a good night's sleep? Don't fret!

On March 13-14, 2025, a total lunar eclipse will be visible across Earth's night side. Although the point of greatest eclipse will be in the Pacific Ocean, North America and South America will get the best views. Some areas of Europe will get a slight view of the moonset, and East Asia will glimpse the spectacle at moonrise.
