Nintendo has been the talk of the gaming world this week after it finally unveiled details of the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, the sequel to the third-best selling console ever made. Despite excitement over its upcoming launch in June,

Nintendo will retail the Switch 2 for $449.99 at launch, which is significantly higher than the original Switch's $299 price tag. A separate bundle that includes the new "Mario Kart World" game will also be available for $499.99.

The company said it would push back the April 9 date to "assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions."

High tariffs on Vietnam and Cambodia have caused Nintendo to push back the preorder date for the Switch 2 as the company assesses market conditions.

"Video game consoles are sold under tight margins in order to reduce the barrier to entry for consumers," the ESA notes in its issue page on tariffs. "Tariffs mean that the additional costs would be passed along to consumers, resulting in a ripple effect of harm for the industry and the jobs it generates and supports.

The new video game console will still be released in June, the Japanese company said. Its price was unveiled as $450 this week.

The Astroneer universe is expanding, and this follow-up will be all about "discovery, cooperative expeditions, and camaraderie".
