Longtime Batesville Parks and Recreation Director Jeff Owens has died.City officials confirmed Jeff Owens passed away on Friday, June 6. Batesville Mayor Rick Elumbaugh said Owens was battling stomach and esophageal cancer.

D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation announced a new “Play it Forward Scholarship” available to those going to college who’ve taken part in its programming.

The Madison County Parks and Recreation Department alongside the Middle Fork Bottoms State Park hosted a Fishing Rodeo Saturday. The event took place from 9 until 11 in the morning at the park located at 111 Sanders Bluff Road in Three Way. Participants were divided into four age groups including, 5-8, 9-11, 12-13, and 14-15 years old.

Washington County Parks and Recreation is set to host various programs this spring and summer. According to a community announcement, offerings include summer camps, swimming lessons, sports clinics and adult fitness programs.

Minnesotans 16 and older can introduce children 15 and younger to fishing—no license required for either participant during the event.

Daniel McDonald, with the City of Caldwell, says parks are a "precious commodity to the community," so it's a shame they are being vandalized.
