NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - On his first day as interim commissioner of the Office of Motor Vehicles, Bryan Adams said Tuesday (April 1) he is committed to lifting the agency out of its declared state of emergency due to system outages and outdated technology.

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry has named a new Office of Motor Vehicles chief to address emergency deficiencies in the agency's ancient computer system that consistently crashes, creating delays and backlogs for customers and employees.

Adams will return to the State Fire Marshal's Office after his time at the OMV, a release from Landry's office said. Dale 'Ed' Branch, the chief of staff for the State Fire Marshal's Office, will replace Adams as the head of that agency.
