This week both the Alabama State men and Southern women won their first NCAA Tournament games in each school’s history. Knox is a redshirt sophomore from Memphis, Tennessee who arrived at Alabama State in 2022.

Southern University has made history with a landmark victory in the NCAA Tournament, with the HBCU becoming the first SWAC women’s basketball program to win a game on this stage. Their 68-56 triumph over UC San Diego not only secured their first-ever NCAA Tournament victory but also marked the first win for any SWAC women’s basketball team in tournament history.

The road to the Final Four is already underway with the First Round action in the 2025 NCAA Tournament set to get underway this week. March Madness will get started in earnest on Thursday when the first round tips off across the country.

The final matchup of the First Four belongs to Xavier and Texas, who take the court at 9:10 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 19. It’s the second time the two teams have met in the tournament. In 2023, Texas and Xavier met in the Sweet 16, and the Longhorns delivered a 83-71 victory to improve to the Elite Eight.
