A lingering heat wave has roasted much of Europe, leading authorities to raise warnings and tourists to find ways to beat the heat. Such events are becoming increasingly common across Europe as global warming boosts temperatures.

Heat warnings were issued for parts of Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany and the U.K. New highs are expected on Wednesday before rain should bring respite to some areas.
