China appears to have quietly rolled back retaliatory tariffs of 125% on some semiconductors made in the United States, according to details provided to CNN on Friday by three import agencies in the southern technology hub of Shenzhen.

While China has previously stated it would “fight to the end” unless US tariffs were lifted, the country’s internal economic struggles may be driving this more conciliatory tone.

China has denied President Trump’s assertion that the two sides were involved in active negotiations over tariffs.
