Republicans are touting House passage of a megabill to fund Trump’s agenda as a win for Americans. Democrats slam it as benefiting the rich and hurting low-income people.
The House-passed bill includes a large tax cut, as well as more money for defense and immigration enforcement, financed in part by slashing health, nutrition, education and clean energy programs.
But the tax cut package that passed the U.S. House and President Trump has dubbed the "big, beautiful bill" may change before it becomes law.
Johnson and his GOP leadership team appeared confident they would be able to stick to their schedule and shore up GOP support for final passage late Wednesday or Thursday.
