In order to make room for the new exhibit, though, three popular attractions will be getting the axe beginning July 7. Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat will all close early next month as work begins on the new attraction.

The Carousel of Progress, for example, predates the theme park, as a version of it appeared at a World's Fair, but it has been outdated for decades. Its progress stops in the early '80s and does not cover events like the arrival of smartphones or the internet.
