The Dallas Stars defeat the Winnipeg Jets in six games to reach the Western Conference finals for the third consecutive season.
The No. 1 Winnipeg Jets stayed alive in their series against the Dallas Stars with a 4-0 victory on Thursday night. Now they must figure out how to win on the road to avoid elimination.
In Game 5 between the Dallas Stars and Winnipeg Jets, tempers flared in the third period which led to punches being thrown. Stars captain Jamie Benn threw one blow than dropped Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele like a hot potato. Benn received a 10-minute misconduct and a roughing minor after taking down the Jet.
The Stars have responded emphatically after losses this year. Another such effort on Saturday would see them into the next round.
When the game ended, Jets teammates crowded around a clearly emotional Schiefele before the traditional post-series handshakes. During the handshake line, each Stars player took an extra few seconds with Scheifele to offer condolences.
