The Winnipeg Jets are among the favorites of a crowded field to win the Stanley Cup this year, which would be a first for the team that joined the NHL in 2011.
The 26-year-old Oettinger, meanwhile, is one Stars win away from sealing a pretty strong case as the US starter. He’s got a 6-4 record thus far in the playoffs, has led Dallas to a pair of crucial road wins and has only had one “bad” game out of 10 starts, a 7-4 loss in Game 6 to the Avalanche.
Mikael Granlund netted his first career playoff hat trick to pace Dallas to a 3-1 victory over the visiting Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday, leaving the Stars one win away from advancing to the final four of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Sixteen teams in total make the NBA playoffs, eight teams from both the Eastern and Western Conferences. The top six seeds in each conference advance based on the regular season record. The final two seeds in each conference are wild-card spots based on the best remaining records in each conference.
