The FBI says the suspect in the attack in Boulder used a makeshift flamethrower and federal law enforcement is investigating the attack as an act of terrorism.

A suspect is in custody after what authorities call a "targeted act of violence" at Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, Colorado. Witnesses said he threw Molotov cocktails at people supporting Israeli hostages.

Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn had reason to believe a Sunday afternoon attack on the Pearl Street Mall was terror. At 1:26 p.m., a man had thrown Molotov cocktails at a group walking to raise awareness of Israeli hostages being held by the terrorist group Hamas.

Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, of El Paso County, Colorado, threw molotov ... by a Jewish group in downtown Boulder, Michalek said, adding that the FBI was investigating it as an act of terrorism.

The local chapter of the organization hosts weekly runs and walking events aimed at bringing attention to the Israeli hostages taken in Hamas' Oct. 7, 2023, terror attack. In Colorado, the group has chapters in Boulder and Denver.
