Smoke from wildfires in northern Alberta and northeastern B.C. was expected to reach Calgary this weekend, with forecasters warning of worsening air quality in the city.

Wildfire smoke has sparked the national weather agency to issue air quality warnings around the county of Grande Prairie and the northwestern corner of Alberta, and air quality statements for much of northern Alberta.

Poor air quality fuelled by wildfires burning across the Prairies left a large swath of the country enveloped in a haze for another day.
