Welcome to 2026, which is already shaping up to be one of the busiest election years Massachusetts has seen in a while. But look past the top of the ticket and there’s plenty of intrigue percolating down the ballot, too. Here are a few races to keep on your radar:
Massachusetts election officials have scheduled a hearing to investigate a complaint challenging the signature gathering process for a proposed ballot initiative to roll back the state’s marijuana law.
If the Legislature chooses not to pass a proposed law by May 5, organizers can collect additional signatures to place the question on the ballot in November.
State officials certified four petitions to advance toward the 2026 ballot, including a public records measure and proposals on pay, labor and taxes.
