The gunman in the fatal attack on the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention took his own life after he unsuccessfully attempted to leave the building from where he opened fire, according to a law enforcement source with direct knowledge of the investigation.

The union for employees at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is warning that misinformation surrounding vaccines is creating a dangerous environment in which to do their work. The union asked leadership at the Department of Health and Human Services to condemn vaccine disinformation following a shooting at the CDC headquarters in Atlanta in
