Satellite images show that the storm would weaken as it nears the coast. Even though the storm weakened as it approached land, it will still bring tropical storm conditions near the coast throughout Monday.

U.S. forecasters say the weakening and ill-defined depression came ashore south of Tampico with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph.

Tropical Depression Barry has made landfall along the east coast of Mexico Sunday night, and will quickly weaken overnight.
