The man, Joshua Steven Riibe, was never named as a suspect in the disappearance of Sudiksha Konanki in Punta Cana, but he said he had not been allowed to leave the Dominican Republic.

The parents of a U.S. college student who vanished almost two weeks ago in the resort town of Punta Cana have asked authorities to declare her legally dead.

The man who is the last person known to have been with missing University of Pittsburgh student Sudiksha Konanki is on a plane heading back to the US after he obtained a new passport, a source in the prosecutor’s office told CNN Wednesday.
