Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has formally requested a presidential emergency declaration on the March 28-30 ice storm.

Some electricity customers in 12 northern Michigan counties hit hard by the late March ice storm could be eligible for credits from their provider.

As crews work through storm damage in state parks, forests and trails a clearer picture is forming on how hundreds of downed trees may affect Northern Michigan’s summer recreation. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources updated its closure page and released a list of five state forest campgrounds they expect will have a delayed opening.
