Northern Michigan was socked with an ice storm and it's too cold for it to melt. Check out these social media photos of the impact.

More than 800 members of the Michigan National Guard have been mobilized to assist residents impacted by ice storms, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced Friday. Most of the units are staged at Camp Grayling and began deploying to communities in Northern Michigan on Thursday.

This is easily the worst ice storm in modern times — in the last 50 years — and you have to go back all the way to 1922 to find something even remotely close,” said Harold Dippman, meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Gaylord.
