The president first pushed the idea in 2017 after attending the Bastille Day parade and celebration in France, saying he wanted to "try and top it." That effort was canceled after price estimates topped $90 million.
Social media users are encouraging people to celebrate the former president to protest against President Donald Trump.
The event — in which participants lined the bridge from Wysor Street to Riverside Avenue — was part of a nationwide "No Kings" protest.
