Hundreds of Coast Guard recruits in Cape May were away from their families this Thanksgiving, but local families welcomed them in for a home cooked meal.

The initiative comes as the Coast Guard reported Friday it had recruited 5,204 active-duty enlisted service members, exceeding its goal for 2025.
