Skiing evidently becomes much harder without the actual skis. Sweden blew its chance to win gold in the women’s 4 X 7.5km relay on Saturday when Ebba Andersson fell hard and was forced to race with just one ski for roughly 30 seconds.

Ski Mountaineering made its Olympic debut on Thursday. For fans and competitors alike, it was a day to remember.

The U.S. women’s cross-country skiing 4x7.5K relay team finished in fifth place on Saturday, tying the Americans’ best finish in the event in the history of the Winter Games. Their men’s counterparts placed sixth on Sunday in the same distance relay at the Milan Cortina Games, marking their best finish since 2002.

It made Taubitz and Langenhan the only double-gold winners in luge at this year's Olympics, where Germany — again — was the overall best, with three golds and five medals overall. Italy won four medals (two gold, two bronze), as did Austria (three silver, one bronze).

South Korea and Canada denied the Dutch a fifth- or sixth-straight short track gold in Milan Wednesday, topping the podium in the women's 3000m and the men's 500m, respectively.

While China certainly has the talent to win back-to-back golds in the Mixed Team Relay, and the host nation will bring its best effort, South Korea has more than enough talent to score a podium finish, as does Canada, which finished fourth after being penalized.

Italian biathlete Rebecca Passler has not been nominated for Wednesday's Olympic women's relay race after being cleared to compete despite a positive doping test. The Italian winter sport federation said on Tuesday that pursuit gold medallist Lisa Vittozzi and the other top star Dorothea Wierer will be joined by Hannah Auchentaller and Michela Carrara in the 4x6 kilometres race.
