A California Lottery player had to double-check his winning scratchers ticket before celebrating his $1 million win, officials said. A regular player since 2010, S. Moten picked up his luck “50x the Cash” ticket at a 7-Eleven in Inglewood, lottery officials said in a Nov. 4 news release. He scratched it off after returning home but had some doubts.
Someone in California is waking up a millionaire this week. A Powerball ticket worth $1.2 million was sold in Daly City, according to the California Lottery. The ticket matched five numbers in the latest draw but missed the Powerball number needed to win the grand jackpot.
Edwin Castro of Altadena, California, who won $2.04 billion Powerball lottery Nov. 7, 2022, opted for the lump sum, which was just shy of $1 billion.
About 428,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.
