How to see six planets in the sky at once in rare celestial alignment
Nearly all of the solar system’s planets are about to file across the night sky in a planetary alignment, and it will be visible from anywhere on Earth
Six planets are set to align on Saturday, creating a planetary parade that will be visible to sky-gazers across the globe.
A planetary scientist and a young astronomer give tips on how to find the six planets that will be visible during the planet parade on Saturday.
Despite the dramatic name, these alignments aren’t exceptionally rare. The last six-planet parade occurred in January 2025, and a four-planet lineup followed in August 2025. What makes each one feel special is simply the chance to see so many worlds in a single sweep of sky.
This rare “planet parade” features six planets—Mercury, Venus, Neptune, Saturn, Uranus, and Jupiter—appearing clustered along the ecliptic, the Sun’s apparent path across the sky, creating a stunning visual arc visible after sunset.
Look west just after sunset from this weekend for a chance to see some of six planets, though the best views will be had later this month.
