MILAN (AP) — Alina Muller did it again. Twelve years after scoring the clinching goal to deliver Switzerland its first Olympic medal in women's hockey — a bronze at the 2014 Sochi Games — Muller scored 9:09 into overtime in a 2-1 win over Sweden on Thursday for the bronze at the Milan Cortina Games.

In the men's cross-country team spring, Ben Ogden and Gus Schumacher surged to silver to deliver the United States its first-ever Olympic medal in the event. Ogden won his second silver as he previously became the first American man to reach an Olympic cross-country podium since 1976.

Canada has beaten Switzerland 2-1 in the semifinals of the women’s hockey tournament at the 2026 Winter Olympics, advancing to Thursday’s gold medal game against the United States.

For nearly 55 minutes, the Swiss men’s national ice hockey team looked poised to punch its ticket to the semifinals. Crisp passing, disciplined defensive structure, and timely goaltending had the Swiss in control of their quarterfinal matchup.

Winter Olympics was a huge day for the United States. Alysa Liu became the first American to win gold in women's singles ice skating since Sarah Hughes in 2002 after an electric free skate vaulted her into the lead.

Just 24 hours after thrashing Czechia 5-0, the Canadians will be back on the ice to face Switzerland at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
