President Trump on Sunday urged Ukraine to “immediately” meet with Russia for peace talks without first securing a cease-fire deal — just as Vladimir Putin has suggested.

Ukraine is willing to engage in direct talks with Russia if an unconditional ceasefire is established first, as stated by President Zelenskyy. He emphasized the need for a reliable ceasefire starting May 12 before negotiations can proceed.

Ukrainian troops have received orders to fire only in response to Russian attacks during the three-day ceasefire unilaterally declared by Vladimir Putin, Suspilne reports, citing soldiers from three Ukrainian units fighting near the city of Pokrovsk and in southern Ukraine.
