Erin has rapidly intensified into a Category 4 major hurricane. NOAA Hurricane Hunters are currently flying through the storm and gathering data. Erin is expected to continue strengthening through the weekend and may reach high-end Category 4 or Category 5 hurricane status over the next couple of days.

Hurricane Erin is now a Category 4 storm, rapidly intensifying overnight into early Saturday morning as it moves closer to the U.S. East Coast with sustained winds up to 155 mph.
