After a down year for the 2024 NBA rookie class, during which second-rounder Bronny James was the most anticipated draft pick to play in the NBA summer league in Las Vegas, the excitement was back earlier this month as No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg and other top selections from the touted 2025 class took the court with their new teams.

While Flagg looked good with the ball in his hands, he looked better playing off it, and that will be more of his role in Dallas where D’Angelo Russell in the short term and Kyrie Irving long term (once healthy), not to mention Anthony Davis, will facilitate the offense most of the time.

Two starts was more than enough for management to see that Flagg is ready to go as a rookie and projected impact player in the Mavericks' lineup.
