The wholesale club operator has started switching to Coca-Cola beverages at its food courts.

Pepsi just announced its first prebiotic soda, a major shift in the traditional cola category and a clear response to the growing demand for functional beverages.

In the U.S., sales of functional beverages jumped 54% to $9.2 billion between March 2020 and March 2024, according to NielsenIQ.

The drinks will be available in Original Cola and Cherry Vanilla flavors and can be purchased in single or 8-packs of 12-ounce cans online this fall and in stores at the beginning of 2026, the news release states. PepsiCo acquired Austin-based prebiotic drink, Poppi, for $1.95 billion in March.

While there are some slight differences between cane sugar and corn syrup as sweeteners, experts have said that too much of either is not good for consumers.
