ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Clowney has been released by the club. Per Over the Cap, the Panthers will take on a $6 million dead cap charge and save $7.8 million against the 2025 cap. They entered Thursday with $16.3 million in cap space, so this move will bump them up to $24.1 million.

The Carolina Panthers have released veteran Jadeveon Clowney after selecting two edge rushers in the NFL draft. Clowney, the No. pick in the 2014 draft, had 5 1/2 sacks last season for the Panthers.

The Panthers released Clowney early Thursday morning, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. The former All-Pro tied veteran A'Shawn Robinson for the team lead in sacks in 2024. However, in its first season without star pass-rusher Brian Burns since 2018, Carolina managed just 32 sacks as a team, the third-fewest in the league.
