New York Yankees closer Luke Weaver received a platelet-rich plasma injection designed to speed healing in his injured left hamstring, according to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN).

Yankees closer Luke Weaver is doing well in the early stages of his recovery from a left hamstring strain. Weaver received a PRP injection this week and he was able to resume his throwing on Thursday and again prior to Friday’s series opener against the Red Sox.

Aaron Boone didn’t sound overly optimistic late Sunday while discussing Luke Weaver, who had to cut his warmup short in the bullpen before the ninth inning of that night’s game at Dodger Stadium because he “felt something” in his left hamstring. Boone’s fears were soon confirmed.
