The officer who was injured in the shooting on Emory University's campus in Atlanta is dead, Interim Chief Greg Padrick of DeKalb County Police Department said. He died of his injuries from a gunshot wound, Padrick said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Saturday identified the gunman as 30-year-old Patrick Joseph White, of Kennesaw, Georgia.

Authorities say both a suspected active shooter and a police officer were killed in a gunfight outside an Emory Point CVS, near the CDC and Emory University campus, on Friday afternoon.
