To this day, Hitchcock is the most successful coach in Dallas Stars history. Hitchcock was the head coach of the Stars for parts of eight seasons over more than two decades. He led the franchise to its first, and so far only, Stanley Cup in 1999. He also led the Stars back to the Stanley Cup Final in 2000, when Dallas ultimately fell to New Jersey.
