Multiple firefighters have been shot while responding to a brush fire in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, according to Northern Lakes Fire Protection Chief Pat Riley. Kootenai County Emergency Management has told people in the area to shelter in place and asked others to avoid the area.

A gunman shot and killed two firefighters in an “ambush-style” attack at the popular Canfield Mountain recreation area near Coeur d’Alene Sunday afternoon. The slain firefighters were from the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department and Kootenai County Fire and Rescue,

An alert by the Kootenai County Emergency Management Office asked people to avoid the area around Canfield Mountain Trailhead and Nettleton Gulch Road.
