WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina said Sunday he will not seek reelection next year, a day after announcing his opposition to President Donald Trump’s tax breaks and spending cuts package because of its reductions to health care programs.

Sen. Mark Warner suggested that the bill, which is nearing a final vote in the Senate, could lose support from Republicans, saying "it's not over until it's over."

The Senate Republican tax bill includes the biggest reduction for the federal safety net since at least the 1990s, targeting more than $1 trillion in social spending.
